Information about Hungary: the country, landscape, history, regions, counties and villages
Why this region of Hungary:
GeGe Real Estate works mostly in the Baranya, Tolna and Somogy provinces of Hungary, the so-called region of South-Transdanubia. Apart from that, GeGe is also dealing with real estate in Budapest, around Lake Balaton and the western regions of the country, bordering Austria (the provinces of Zala, Vas and Veszprém). GeGe Real Estate has specifically chosen for these regions of Hungary for their unique characteristics, its charming people, the fabulous weather and the amazing properties that are for sale in this area - all of it combined with still incredibly low prices, which are increasing due to the economic development and EU accession! According to statistics and economic reports, within Hungary, the regions of Central-Hungary (Budapest) and West- and South-Transdanubia are developing the most dynamically, due to their central location in the Heart of the New Europe, bordering not less than 4 (and soon 5) EU members states!
The region:
This area of Hungary is truly special; all the people we’ve had the privilege to meet here all say the same thing. Because of the exceptional sub-Mediterranean micro-climate, the landscape and the lakes, this part of Hungary could be the answer to all your dreams.
Rolling hills, huge forests, large rivers (Danube, Dráva), grand lakes (more than just Balaton), idyllic villages and cities that provide for all needs. Hungary has it all. Did you ever think: “I would love to go back to nature and enjoy life for what it is”, but the investment was just too high? Look no further! A life or holiday in Hungary will give you exactly what you’ve been looking for and for great prices.
The area is very accessible by car, train, bus and even air. The new international airport in Pécs will be receiving flights from the UK and Ireland in nearby future, direct flights from these and several other countries to Budapest and Balaton Airports already exist. New highways were recently finished or are under construction and soon will reach Pécs, Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010. Modern intercity trains link the region daily with destinations such as Budapest, Vienna, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Sarajevo and even Venice.
Diversity everywhere you go:
The southwest of Hungary offers great diversity in landscape. You could be in a busy urban area one minute, yet only 2 or 3 miles from absolute peace and quietness. The hills and small mountains are topping over 2,000 feet, and endless forests and wild- and hunting areas are covering the size of half a county. A little further, huge plains and fields with goldish yellow sunflowers and rape or colza offer a great diversity, together with green meadows and valleys. Spas, modern 18-holes golf courses and castles - sometimes in use as a hotel - offer all that is needed for relaxation.
